“I don’t know if you’ve ever had something in your life that you felt like it was right. That’s Cape Neddick for us, it feels like we belong here.”
- Ian Miller, co-owner of Cape Neddick Lobster Pound

In the Spring of 2023, the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound was purchased by Ian Miller and Morey Highbarger of Pepper's Landing Lobster Co. after over 60 years of being owned and operated by the Young Family of Cape Neddick.  As new owners, they plan to maintain the history of The Pound while working to improve the structure, expand the menu and provide the freshest seafood available, as they have at their other locations.

ABOUT IAN

Ian began his culinary career after stepping into his first restaurant kitchen at the age of 16 in his hometown in Connecticut and never looked back. He went on to attend the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY to improve his skill set and continued to grow through the ranks working in kitchens from private country clubs to the TD Bank Premier Suites.  Growing up by the ocean, Ian always had a love of fresh seafood and knew that one day that would be his focus.  His move to Maine in 2008 gave him access to the freshest seafood available and that solidified his goal of owning a seafood establishment.

In early 2017, Ian teamed up with Morey at Sea Salt Lobster restaurant in Saco, Maine.  Together, they worked to build the Pepper’s Landing brand where Ian could focus on using his culinary skills to provide fresh seafood year-round in a comfortable, casual, family-friendly environment.  Taking a full hands-on approach, he can be found at any of the locations helping out in the kitchen or in the dining room.

Today, Ian resides in Southern Maine with his wife, a Wells native, and 3 children.  Following his passion for fresh seafood, his kids often visit the restaurants for a bowl of fresh steamed clams and a lobster roll, hold the roll.  If anyone understands the need for a family-friendly restaurant that serves fresh, creative, delicious food, it’s Ian.  His culinary creativity and passion are displayed in each and every dish found at Pepper’s Landing with his all time favorite being the Firecracker Shrimp and Lobster Mac & Cheese - be sure to give them a try!

ABOUT MOREY

Born and raised in Old Town, Maine, Morey grew up listening to the tales of his grandfather, Pepper Martin, the namesake behind Pepper's Landing, hanging out with him enjoying his fresh smoked fish and home brew as he grew older.  Pepper’s love of the outdoors, waterskiing and all things Maine were passed down to Morey and they later helped define his career.

After moving to Southern Maine, Morey began a successful career in finance, however he quickly learned his Maine roots and passion for fresh seafood far surpassed his desire to crunch numbers daily.  In 2000 Morey got his foot into the restaurant industry when he purchased a small, popular deli in Kennebunkport that was known for its various offerings, from lobster rolls to whoopie pies.  Wanting more, his passion for seafood brought him to develop a wholesale lobster company with an attached restaurant in Saco, Maine known as Sea Salt Lobster Restaurant, in 2015.  After teaming up with Ian in early 2017, the two put their skill sets together and opened the doors at the first Pepper’s Landing in Brunswick, Maine.

Today, Morey resides in Southern Maine with his wife and 3 children.  His focus with the restaurants on a day to day basis is in the development and backend management, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find him in the dining room greeting guests.  When developing Pepper’s Landing, Morey knew he wanted to pass down the legend of his Grandfather and ensure each and every guest feels welcome, just like he watched Pepper do in his own home.  His perfect meal at Pepper’s Landing is a steaming bowl of Clam Chowder followed by a fresh, classic Lobster Roll washed down with a cold pint of Pepper’s Champ - just as his grandfather would have enjoyed.
